Gold-ing Good Times in Gold Coast

Gold Coast was A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!! Words don't justify. Seriously. And 5 days was not enough. Food was easy to find. Weather was cool, I mean really cool! But it got a little too cold on our last night somewhere about 11 degree celsius. Shopping malls and other shops, except the entertainment bars and restaurants, open at 9am and close at 5pm. So we had to plan our dinner. Can't do the last minute where-to-eat thingy like in SG.

We were jet-lagged (lol) on Day 1 from our 8hr flight. Our flight took off at 10.25pm and reached Gold Coast at close to 8am. Singapore is 2hr behind Gold Coast. We didn't have enough sleep throughout our journey. The kids especially, were uncomfortable with sleeping on the plane. Further, it was their first long journey flight. Hong Kong took only 5 hours to reach. So we reached Gold Coast with panda eyes but still we enjoyed feeling the cool breeze and some shopping at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, just a stone throw away from our apartment, Meriton at Broadbeach. On the night of Day 1, we planned to visit the Gold Coast mosque for Isra' Mi'raj but we were just too tired we took the rest of the day chilling at our apartment. Meriton was fantastic. It's home-away-from-home.

Right in the morning of Day 2, we escaped to Dreamworld! The much anticipated fun was indeed fulfilled. We didn't have any difficulty traveling around Gold Coast with Tom Tom, our best friend! Hehe. We all missed Bo so much, the 2 year old koala, that we took a plush Bo look-alike home to keep us company! The kids had so much fun. Oh well, the kids' parents had more fun with the trilling rides; 7 altogether! We had light breakfast before heading off to Dreamworld. Prepared by yours truly. Ehem! So we ate our hearts out at Billabong all-you-can-eat Restaurant for our brunch right within the Dreamworld theme park! Thereafter, we continued our walk-walk and talk-talk and click-click and shout-shout (for the rides of course!). Before exiting the gate and ensuring we were done with all that was there, we took a while to sit and have ice-cream and ice-blended blueberry drink reminiscing the moments with Bo and the rides we took. We then had churros! Churros a.k.a. Spanish doughnuts. My favourite ever since. I'm in love! Where can I find one here?? I googled and read Orange Julius sells churros! Really?? Orange Julius! Yay!!

Day 3 was a quite an easy day for us but a fulfilling one. Gold Coast Mosque in the morning and Carrara Markets in the afternoon. Peace and tranquility in the Mosque and within the Mosque vicinity. We didn't want to leave but time didn't allow us to stay long. We felt so welcomed like no one was a stranger. Right after Mosque we head back down to Carrara Markets. You can find almost everything at Carrara. From fruits to ponies! Most importantly, we love the friendliness of Carrara marketeers and the cleanliness of their stalls. Anyone coming to Gold Coast should not miss Carrara. Everything is a steal. And then before heading back to our apartment, we stop by to feel the sea breeze and the sand of the Kurrawa Beach, very close to where we stayed. I told you Meriton was awesome :)

On day 4, we were rushing between Movie World and Sea World. Reason was we were short of time. With the queue, the rides at Movie World cost us quite a bit of time. So we were basically touch-basing at Movie World, enough to cover at least 3/4 of the theme park and then we drove to Sea World. I love Sea World. Breezy and very, very much closer to nature. The kids especially very much enjoyed the Sky Ride (like the old cable car at Sentosa). The most awesome ride we had was the Viking Boat. That was where we were plunged face first in the water. Though it was just a one-time plunge, man the slope was steep! We got a little wet especially Baba, who was sitting on the front seat of the boat we rode, but who cares, it was all fun!

We didn't want Day 5 to come 'cause we didn't want all the fun to be over. Honestly, 5 days was just NOT ENOUGH. Also thanks to our lazy Day 1. Haha. We didn't manage to whale watch. And that's very, very unfortunate. So with heavy hearts, we checked out the apartment, drove to the airport, still click-clicking the scenery and didn't wanna miss a thing, and then when we reached, parked the car and returned the keys. While Scooting off, we were all chatting and reminiscing the moments we had in Gold Coast. Even though we're close to SG waters than to that of Gold Coast, we know that we'll be back for more.

I've uploaded many pictures of our trip on my Facebook. I've shared them here for your ease of viewing. But pictures don't justify. Seriously. Anyways, enjoy!
